Our History
Leawood
South Country Club, a course with a long history of supporting women’s golf,
hosted the first Duramed FUTURES Tour Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Championship
in May 2007. The 144 golfers compared the course to a major championship venue,
and were impressed with Kansas City area weather and hospitality.

Our Charity
The Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Championship is a National Kidney Foundation of Kansas and
Western Missouri event. The National Kidney Foundation has long been associated with premier
amateur golf events nationwide. The NKF welcomes the opportunity to showcase these athletes and
use the tournament as a forum to educate the community about the important role exercise plays in
the prevention of kidney disease, which affects one in nine American adults -- more than 20 million people.
Another 20 million are at risk due to uncontrolled high blood pressure and diabetes and don’t know it.
