Women's Professional Golf in Kansas City!
The Mercedes-Benz of Kansas City Championship returns to Leawood South Country Club May 11-16, 2010. It’s the fourth year for this Duramed FUTURES Tour event, the developmental tour of the LPGA.
It’s your chance to see professional golf up close. Women from all over the world play on the tour, hoping to qualify for the LPGA. The top ten money winners on the Duramed FUTURES Tour at the end of the season earn their LPGA Tour cards. Half of the women who finished in the top ten at Leawood South ended up in the tour’s top ten and will play on the LPGA; come out and watch the athletes who’ll be moving on this year!
In the past 28 years, more than 300 Duramed FUTURES Tour alumnae have moved on to the LPGA Tour. In total, they represent 345 LPGA victories, including 37 major championships. Duramed FUTURES Tour alumnae include Lorena Ochoa, Seon-Hwa Lee, Karrie Webb, Grace Park, Christina Kim and Christie Kerr.
Founded in 1981, the Duramed FUTURES Tour’s role has been to develop and prepare women for the LPGA. The Duramed FUTURES Tour has been the largest international developmental tour and the second largest women's golf tour in the world, featuring over 300 players from 31 nations, playing 18-20 tournaments each year in cities across the country.
